22nd August 2021: SWITCHING (for Dom/sub, Top/bottom dynamics)

Anne O Nomis, author of 'The History & Arts of the Dominatrix' book, and our resident Dominatrix educator, gives a brand new workshop on the topic of SWITCHING.

What is a switch? It's a person who can be Dominant AND / OR submissive, or Top or bottom, in a BDSM context or sexually in bed.

For some it's that they identify as neither exclusively Dominant or exclusively submissive, but rather capable of playing or inhabiting either Dominant or submissive (or Top or bottom) role, depending on their mood or play partner. 

Sometimes a person may feel more comfortable or have a preference for Domming/Topping, or for subbing/bottoming, but on occasion choose to switch such as to please their partner or for a change. While some people enjoy and identify with the fluidity of being a "switch" and open options that may afford them, and identify as a switch. Interestingly the complimentary term "versatile" is often used (particularly in the gay scene) with rough equivalence to being a switch; able to top or bottom in a versatile fashion, or to take turns switching.

Anne also notes from her research data, that many people in the BDSM scene who fit a "masochist" psychology, self-identify by the term "switch", and statistically have a higher self-reported rating of switching.

Date and time for "online" workshop: There will also be an online version of the talk available for those wanting to access Anne's insight and information from around the world, which can be streamed from Sunday 29th August.
In this workshop, Anne will discuss: 

• The many benefits of switching - from hedonism, generosity, creativity, exploration, connection, exchange, balance, facilitating and more.
• How to discuss switching with a partner
• Negotiating activities and interests - Activities may include: erotic tie-and-tease, prisoner roleplay, sex slave roleplay, corporal punishment scenario, bondage, latex and other fetishes, and many others.
• Limits and safewords, and mitigating risks
• Possibilities for switching
• Option 1: Taking turns
• Option 2: Inter-session switch
• Option 3: Roleplay integrated switch
• Option 4: Primal / prey switch

During the workshop, Anne will in addition to talking, also demonstrate some switching for education and amusement purposes of attendees.

Lastly there will be a Q&As opportunity for attendees to pick Anne's brain on the topic on any and all things switch.
