Product Reviews
Perfect starter suction cup dildo
Rated 9 / 10

We received this Lovehoney Basics Suction Cup Dildo in blue in exchange for an honest review. As usual, it was delivered discreetly and promptly, and I was really happy to see the packing being as simple and eco-friendly as possible. Plastic appears to have been reduced in Lovehoney's own brand items, and while the item itself is plastic there isn’t any excess plastic at all! Now we’re not first-timers to the suction-cup game, so it was nice to give something a little different a try. Unlike our usual dildos, this blue wonder was noticeably firmer and more straight, and also a fair bit less girthy - but this was not to its detriment. My OH really enjoyed the different sensations, and we ended up using it both without the suction cup (using it in hand) and then attached to a piece of furniture. The suction cup worked perfectly and didn’t lose its suction even during some more animated play! I think for someone wanting to try out this style of toy, this is a very good starting point, it’s cost-effective and very much got the job done. Also, starting smaller actually meant that my OH was happy not to stop after the first orgasm - sometimes we rush into the bigger toys and I can say that we enjoyed a much longer and playful time by starting with the smaller items first.

The Lovehoney BASICS range aims to provide effective but affordable products from a brand you know you can trust - and this dildo is no exception. What this dildo lacks in frills it makes up for in price and build quality. Aesthetically this dildo tries to balance the fine line between realism and bearing no phallic resemblance. The most curious design choice of note is that the head seems uncannily bulbous. There is a single vein running along the shaft, but with the lack of detail it ends up resembling something closer to a Mars bar. Personally, I prefer my dildos to be on one side of the spectrum or the other, as I feel that both have their own appeal. It has a nice firm yet pliable material, probably my favourite balance for a good all-round dildo. Whilst this tends to be personal preference, I feel like this particular toy has managed to hit the Goldilocks spot of providing enough resistance to get some thrust where you want it, without feeling like you’ve slipped backwards onto a broomstick. This member performs adequately, although the prominent tip does make for slightly more resistance on first insertion. This would be my main gripe with the product, as without this feature its slim-medium size would lend itself well to beginners. I feel I would be more likely to use this product whilst warming up had it been sans swollen glans. The suction adheres well but the cup isn’t overly deep - probably lying somewhere in the middle of my suction dildo collection. I feel like it would stick under most circumstances but may be tested by the more adventurous of us. Overall I would say I’m fairly satisfied with this toy, and it has definitely earned its place in my erectile repertoire.

Fun, but not great
Rated 6 / 10

When I was offered the chance to review this dildo, I was only aware it was blue and had a suction cup. As such I was surprised when it was a realistic style as the mixture of realistic and dark blue is unusual... The dildo arrived in the usual discreet packaging and the box for the toy itself was simple and featured bold text stating what was contained within and features such as length, the material, suction cup and pronounced veins (more on this later). I liked the box style and preferred it to boxes that show a picture of the toy as it adds an air of mystery! Upon opening the box the dildo was in a sealed bag, which I thought was great as it showed a high level of hygiene standards. Opening the bag revealed the dark blue toy and a fairly strong PBC smell. My initial thoughts were that the shaft was quite thin compared to the larger head and suction cup, so the proportions looked a little off to me. I also couldn’t see the 'pronounced veins', although upon closer inspection I found them, but they were very subtle and I didn’t expect to be able to feel them during use. First of all I wanted to test the suction cup. There’s nothing worse than it coming unstuck mid session, so I set about attaching it to various places. The end of our bed has a flat piece of oak, so this was the first. It stuck really well and didn’t pull off easily. Next the bathroom tiles and again I was impressed. It held the weight of the toy sticking out proudly (and rather invitingly). Finally I tried the full length mirror and it stuck so well I was worried I might break the mirror trying to remove it. I couldn’t wait any longer, so it was back to the foot of the bed and after applying some lube lowered myself onto the toy. It slipped in easily and taking the full length was easy. It felt nice enough, but I didn’t feel particularly full. Starting slowly and getting faster, it felt good. The head was effective rubbing my G-spot but as expected I couldn’t feel the veins at all. On its own I couldn’t reach orgasm, but with a bit of clitoral stimulation as well, it soon did the trick. I have since tried using the toy in the other areas I tested the suction cup and I was pleased the smell wore off quickly and I liked that the suction cup gave you the flexibility to have hands-free fun. But ultimately I’d say this is definitely a beginners toy or for those that like their toys on the smaller side.
