Marvelous Microfibre

First up, I love the cute little zip lock bag that these arrive in, boldly asking ‘What are you doing about tomorrow’, pinning eco ambitions to the mast. I love the cute little keyhole insert at the back, just below the waistline and I love the way they hug my bum, although I wouldn’t describe them as ‘shorts’. From behind they actually look better than on the model, but to be honest, they still aren’t the sexiest pants in my drawer. So why “Add to bag”? If you have taken the trouble to scroll down to the reviews, then you are probably already acknowledging or intrigued by the eco concept. Made from recycled plastic bottles and textile waste, the ‘save the world’ box looks like a tick, in a category where these types of initiatives are rare. But the bag they come in is plastic, rather than say starch-based and compostable. That said, it is small, cute and covered with encouragements to re-use, with the zip lock making it idea for small makeup items in a handbag. It is also made from recycled materials and itself recyclable. If it’s not super seductive, then my underwear needs to be comfortable and the JoJoe’s score highly here. The material is soft, the seams are negligible, and a slight stretchiness ensures a snug fit. JoJoe label the ‘small’ as UK 10. I normally take 6-8. I’m a little worried they might start to fall off me if the elastic gives at all but should be great for regular 8-10. After wearing a couple of times, I have no complaints in this area. Finally, I was intrigued by the microfibre, a quick-drying material synonymous with things like towels for camping. I gave my pair a quick hand wash and hung them across the shower rail overnight. Next morning, they were indeed dry where cotton or even lycra based knickers would still have been decidedly soggy. So, post lockdown, should you be venturing out say backpacking, a few pairs of JoJoes could be an ideal selection. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase and 'doing my bit’ for the environment.

I absolutely looove these panties! The material is stretchy and hugs my curves without digging in. I couldn't help admiring my bum in the mirror. That keyhole back adds appeal!

My first return

I was really excited about receiving this order (2bras & 1 pair of knickers) as it’s a great concept! The material is soft & light, & the fit was good (I’m a size 10 34B & ordered medium bras). However, I feel the finishing let’s these designs down. The material is probably not suitable to stitch which is fine, but the way the straps & tops of the braS are cut & glued together makes them look cheap. There was also a spot of stray glue on the back of the knickers which I didn’t bother trying for size so the whole lot ended up going back.

The perfect pants

I was lucky enough to be sent these pants by Lovehoney in exchange for an impartial review. Firstly, the material is so soft and has just the right amount of stretch. Though it's a recycled man-made material it's not sweaty at all. The only part not made of recycled polyester and elastane is the gusset which I feel is a nice bit of design given how much healthier it is to have cotton by your vulva. They’re excellent under tight clothes too, not only do they have no pantie line but they’re also seamless and have no label to stick out or itch. The triangle cut out is a chic bit of detailing and it being the only overt piece of decoration means the overall look is sleek. Lastly, I love love love that it's 100% recycled!

I like to think I’m fairly environmentally aware and conscious of the decisions I make, however I haven’t introduced those values into my underwear drawer or, to be honest, even considered it, so I was super excited to receive these “shorts” and see just what I was missing out on. First thing to catch my eye was the packaging. It’s merely a zip-lock bag, but it’s recycled, is recyclable and is totally reusable. As it states on the packaging itself, it can be repurposed to carry just about anything small enough to fit in there. I’m going on holiday soon so will put all my little bits like hairbands, clips and jewellery in there. Once I’m home, I’ll find another use for it! Cute, will last, and generally a great idea. These bottoms are described as “shorts” but to me are a brief style. They are a very simple design and they fit really well! The open triangle at the back is a cute little touch, and you get very minimal panty line showing through tight clothes which is a bonus. The material of them is incredibly lightweight and soft. In terms of underwear it’s relatively delicate and requires a hand wash, but has fantastic build quality and a good amount of stretch. These knickers are a definite day-to-day pair for me, purely for their comfort factor. Nothing digs in and there’s no snaggy or itchy materials or labels.JoJoe has certainly opened my eyes to just how great recycled underwear can be, and I now plan to implement a more environmentally friendly approach to my clothing and underwear.
